Green light for Brethertons at Twin Town run

  • Posted

Brethertons has signed up for the 2016 Twin Town Challenge to support its charity of the year, SpecialEffect based near Witney. The charity helps put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games.

The Twin Town Challenge will see one hundred cars costing less than £500 drive from Blenheim Palace to Witney’s twin town of Le Touquet and back via Brands Hatch and Croix en Ternois. It is not a race but a series of twelve fun point based challenges guaranteeing to create once in a lifetime experiences and to make lots of money for SpecialEffect. The challenge takes place over the late May Bank Holiday next year.

Jeremy Clarkson joins Brethertons' Ken Norman to promote the Twin Towns Challenge.

Last year, Brethertons sponsored the send-off breakfast, handing out bacon butties to participants before they set off but now has decided to enter a car and a team of four staff

Shaun Jardine, CEO, explains why the firm was keen to get involved: "SpecialEffect has a special place in our hearts at Brethertons. We’ve loved supporting them since they were chosen by our staff as our charity of the year. Some of our staff are personally involved with the charity, and more and more are getting involved after learning about the great work they do. The idea of the challenge has captured everyone’s imagination so, we’ve having to run a ballot to decide who goes in the car to France."

Becky Frost, Marketing Assistant at Brethertons, is hoping she might be in the team, “I’m a long-time supporter of SpecialEffect so was delighted to hear that they were the firm’s Charity of the Year when I joined the team in March. I’ve put my name in the hat to be part of the team that races to Le Touquet and have my fingers crossed!”

Brendan Cross of STL Communications organises the event for SpecialEffect and commented, “The Twin Town Challenge will be a fun filled weekend, a great networking experience and the opportunity to  drive around iconic race circuits. But the primary objective of the Twin Town Challenge is to raise £250,000 for SpecialEffect, to enable us to help more people with physical disabilities play video games. There are still a few places left on the challenge, so visit www.specialeffect.org.uk for more information and to book your car!”
