Bicester-based Zeta Specialist Lighting has sold its one-of-a-kind Lexus GS300 to Brethertons for the princely sum of 99p.
We have pledged to take part in the 2016 Twin Town Challenge to raise money for SpecialEffect, an Oxfordshire-based charity that helps people with disabilities to benefit from the fun and inclusion of video games.
In order to comply with the rules, our team needed a vehicle that cost under £500, which prompted us to open negotiations to secure the 18 year old Zeta LED ‘pimped up’ Lexus which was the star turn in the 2014 event. The 99p LED-lit car will head off from Witney on 26 May 2016 to its twin town of Le Touquet and back via Silverstone and Abbeville.
The 2016 intercontinental driving challenge which isn’t a race will see 100 teams enjoy a series of fun points-based challenges en route, while raising money for this great local cause.
Zeta Chairman Phil Shadbolt said: “It’s a fantastic event that supports a superb charity and we’re thrilled that Brethertons will be taking part in our custom-built Lexus. The only condition we set when negotiating the deal was that the team have to keep with tradition - raise lots of money and join in the celebrations in Le Touquet, which involves karaoke singing with the SpecialEffect team!”
Our Key Client Manager, Ken Norman said, “SpecialEffect is our charity of the year and our staff has already raised £6,500 through cake sales, a quiz night, running the Oxford half-marathon and hosting an evening of stand-up comedy. It’s great that Zeta has handed over the baton and we can’t wait for the Twin Town Challenge in May with our car costing just 99p!"
