1. How long have you been at Brethertons?
I have been working at Brethertons since October 2018.
2. What career path have you taken so far?
I undertook my law degree at the University of Sussex and upon graduating I started my Legal Practice Course full time while working part time as a legal secretary. I then worked as a paralegal before starting my training contract and qualifying as a solicitor in April 2017.
3. What attracted you to Brethertons?
I was relocating to the Midlands from East Sussex and was looking for a regional firm that had a good reputation and Brethertons stood out for me.
4. What has kept you at Brethertons?
The people at Brethertons are great to work with and there is a strong team atmosphere.
5. As a solicitor at Brethertons, what do you do?
I work in the Wills, Trusts and Probate department. My work primarily involves the administration of estates and advising in relation to Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney. I have a high level of client contact which I really enjoy – supporting clients both face to face and via telephone. I work closely with other team members and have support from those more senior in the team, as well as Paralegals and Legal Assistants, and am also able to take an active role supporting the development of others within the team. I have a high level of autonomy with my work, and enjoy managing a high level of varied cases – some quite complex – through to completion.
6. What is the highlight of your career at Brethertons so far?
The highlight of my career so far at Brethertons has been achieving a merit in my first STEP exam together with the client feedback I have received.
7. What is the best thing about your role?
I enjoy meeting clients face to face and I am passionate about helping clients through what can be a very difficult time for them.
8. What do you enjoy most about working at Brethertons?
The firm are keen to support your progression and development and the firm are currently sponsoring my STEP exams.
