The straightforward answer to that question is in the same way we have always done, being focused on our client’s needs, providing accurate and high quality legal advice and dealing promptly and efficiently with your legal requirements. The way we are working may have had to change but the quality of our service remains the same. I am answering this question from my perspective as a solicitor and partner in the family department but my answer holds true for all departments and lawyers in this firm.
We are all of course having to find new ways of working. As a family lawyer, I would very often have face to face meetings to discuss issues, particularly with new clients. That of course is not possible at the moment. However, that does not in any way mean that our ability to assist you has changed.
Our lawyers all have the facility to work effectively from home.
If have already instructed us, then your solicitor will have given you their direct dial number and email address which means that you can call them direct or email them wherever they are working. If you wish to instruct us on a new matter, then please click on the Covid-19 link on our website and this will give you the name and contact number of who to contact depending on your query.
All information and documentation is stored on our files electronically so that your lawyer can access all the relevant information without needing access to papers files.
We are arranging meetings via the telephone or if necessary via Skype or other platforms such as Zoom if we need to see someone “face to face”.
The courts are also operating similarly via email and hearings via telephone and video so that applications can be issued and urgent matters progressed.
Our counsellor Liz Headley is still available to assist with emotional support if this is required. Liz can be contacted on her email elizabethheadley@brethertons.co.uk or by Telephone 07387647791. If you contact Liz, she will reply to you as soon as she can. Liz has also written several blogs regarding the difficulties which arise out of the current situation and these can be accessed from our website.
We know that the current situation does not alter our clients’ need to have advice and support at this time. In fact, in a lot of situations, it actually means that the need is greater than ever.
I have answered my phone to several clients recently whose first words have been “Oh I did not expect anyone to answer”. We may not be in the office but our ability to provide high quality legal service and advice has not changed.
We are very aware that this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone. However, we are also aware of the issues that our have as a result of their concerns and worries and we are here to help.
