Brethertons' Specialist Appointed as Secretary of Brain Injury Special Interest Group

Brethertons’ Katherine Lennon, has been elected as secretary of the Brain Injury specialist interest group (SIG) for the national not-for-profit Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL)

APIL is the leading organisation in personal injury with a membership of 3800 lawyers who are dedicated to developing the law and improving services for those affected by injury including their access to justice.

In the role of secretary, Katherine will be responsible for the administration of the Brain Injury SIG and together with the group’s coordinator will organise and hold national meetings throughout the year.  The purpose of the SIG is to impart specialist information and advice to legal experts who have an interest in brain injury claims.  Through the group events, showcasing specialist external speakers, lawyers are educated and trained, helping to ensure that those handling these niche cases are up to date with their knowledge and are able to handle cases with sensitivity and full understanding of the intricacies that can arise.

There were 4 nominees put forward for the position with the final choice voted for by members of the APIL Brain Injury SIG.  Katherine’s appointment is testament to her knowledge and experience in the field of brain injury.

Katherine joined Brethertons in 2016 as Head of Brain Injury and has specialised in Brain Injury claims since 1996. She is a Fellow of the APIL and acts for clients who have suffered injuries of the utmost severity, being a firm believer that the early introduction of rehabilitation assists all parties to bring claims to a satisfactory resolution.

On accepting the position of secretary Katherine said “I am thrilled that the members of APIL voted for me and I am delighted to take up the role.  I am dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by brain injury, and am passionate about making life after injury as rewarding as possible.”

In the same week, Brethertons has been accepted into the 2017 Headway Directory of Head Injury Solicitors, a specialist guide which connects those with an injury with recommended solicitors who have successfully met the Headway Personal Injury Lawyers code of conduct.  Inclusion in the guide displays Katherine’s high calibre of expertise and the firms’ commitment to this area of law.
